can anyone point me in a direction where i can find shorter chainring-bolts to fit my crank or maybe advise if i can "convert" normal bolts to work?

and also none of them seem to have a chainguide to keep it in check at the front...?

For shorter chainring bolts you can try singlespeed.co.za, or if in the E.Cape as indicated, you could try Wayne Pfeiffer Cycles, they are very involved in track and may have some in stock.

With regards to chain guides....just get your chainline and tension sorted and you shouldn't need one

Standard derailleur hanger bolts are the same as narrow chainring bolts an should be available at any LBS worth their salt

These work well and if the LBS charges expect R10 per bolt.

Or at a pinch, put a spring washer on each bolt on the inside of the chainring.

This works, but if the washer is too large a dia. then it can rub on the chain ... bear this in mind when shopping for washers.

Or in the case of Cajees... first they'll try sell you overpriced KCNC ones that are too long. Then they'll tell you to put washers (whilst each time you dismiss their advice and insist on derailleur hanger bolts). Eventually they will listen and go into the back and pull out a bag with about 500 of hanger bolts and say "OH! Now I see what you mean. That's very clever"... but then they'll still want to charge R30 per bolt.

The other option is if you're building a bling SS... CRC sells various brands in assorted colours, and I think CWC has coloured narrow chainring bolts too

CRC starting at approx. R130 for pack of 5

Not sure about CWC

The first LBS I asked (just because I was passing by) charged me R10.00 per bolt ... I lost one and stopped at my regular LBS (Action Cycles in Town) and they smiled, dug in their little box of bolts and wanders and handed over the bolt for R0.00 .... nice guys they are :)

That'll work.

When you feel like upgrading, a Blackspire SS-specific ring is R285 and short chainring bolts are about R100 for a set of five.

If looks are important to you.

Enjoy the singlespeed buddy, you'll grow to love it!
