Okay, so I am looking at buying a hard tail mountain bike and have R22000 to spend!

Giant XTC Carbon 29er 2012

  • X9 shifters
  • X9 Front derailer
  • X9 Jockey

  • Fox F29 FIT RLC shock

OR

Scott Scale Expert 29er

  • XT jockey
  • XT crank
  • SLX Front Derailer
  • SLX Shifter

  • Rock Shox Reba 29 RL

I like the giant frame with xt groupset and fox fork.I read that the scott is a fast but uncomfortable ride.XTC is more balanced.Scott comes with good tubeless wheelset.I would build a Carbon frame xtc with 3x10 Xt and Xt brakes ,fox fork and mavic wheelset with continental x king race king combo tyres. All this will cost more ,but then you will have a super bike .The momsen corbon hartail is 25k and is very similar to what i would build anyway

DT Swiss rims and hubs on the Scott also better that the Giant wheelset......what does the Giant weigh? see that they have a whole story on why they do not post the weight....just weigh the bloody bike and post the weight and state it's for a Medium without or without pedals (for example!)!!! I'm a Scott fan, bought the expert.upgraded to xx groupset and crest wheelset.the bike is now 9.5kg.I'm on my second frame as the wheel is touching the left chainstay. The backweel is not centre.I got a new frame and still the same problem. The guys from Scott now tune that I musnt change wheels or tires, what bull is that.I dont think I'll buy Scott again.

what Wheelset are they recommending and on what basis - what size are your tires - is the frame asymmetrical????

I also know a guy who is having the same issues and I also saw a guy in a race and when he stood up I could hear his back wheel rubbing against the frame.
