I finally got to take my bike off to some dirt this weekend, but returned with a bit of a concern.

My RP23 shock at the back is currently pumped pretty close to the max that Fox mentions (300psi), I have set my sag at 25% (roughly), but when I was done with the "bunny" loop at Northern Farms it showed that it had compressed to about 75% during the ride.

Is this normal considering there were no jumps or drop offs etc?

Any dips or bumps on the trail should see the rear work a bit. 75% compression is more than fine. As long as you don't bottom out the shock it should be fine.

Im not happy with the rp23, there is not a big enough difference between full pro-pedal on and no-propedal fully open. Propedal is fine when sitting but as soon as I stand it bobs all over the place, and it has already too much psi in, I also do not use all the travel.

Have you tried setting the rebound (with the red knob) and the amount of stiffness you want (with the blue knob) when you flick the lever?

Ah, Northern Farm. I have a love/hate relationship with it. Its safe to ride and all offroad, but i get bored after a while (6 weeks on the trot) and would enjoy a bit more of a challenge technically.

Nice facilities - Hey Brew and good visible security.

Enjoyed seeing the Hippo and fish eagles yesterday

I've also managed to work out a good 70k trail.

I found no issues with my RP23. It may come down to suspension design. I have a floating rear shock.

@Honkdonk, I can see that becoming a problem, but I have a way to go till then.

Have you tried anything at Toyota bike park thingie in Bryanston? I plan to go there from time to time as well.

The bike park is fun, but can also become tedious after a while. For a good mix of terrain, Groenies, Rietvlei and VG come to mind.

Yes I use it on 3 for climbing, and I have set the rebound to be very hard/active/springy, still if fully open is 100% then switching to the hardest position only ads about 60% hardness, this on a 29er where a full lockout would be great for standing and climbing. The rp23 propedal is way too soft for standing.
