if you have a helmet with adustable head strap at the back , release it a bit . your head will swell with heat towards the end of a long day so a tight lid in the morning is a bit tighter in the afternoon .

Honestly my specialized prevail helmet really helped. Worth every penny I paid. Last helmet was a cheapy and it sucked. And make sure it's big enough.

+1 I have had a similar experience on long rides when it's hot

 

sitting on your chair watching others ride in circles and drinking when its hot does cause a headache once in a while, usually after everyone has finished riding and you have stoppped drinking
