Nope. Unfortunately not.

Got bamboozled by a "friend" into going to a "business development talk." Halfway through realised its a pyramid scheme, and only at the end did they say that it is Amway.

Made my excuses and made the fastest duck posibble. The "Friend" never contacted me again.

I wonder who the online store is?

:D Ha, Ha, yeah, strangely its big business in the USA and the guys who got in early did make some serious money, but I dont think its growing that much anymore there either. SA economies of scale are just too small in my opinion, and from what I understand they have a very limited product range, in the US you can virtually buy anything with Amway, here its just a few odd lines.

Sent an enquiry and this is what I got back from Warrick. Seems like it's actually a motorbike shop... they sent good A stats through that didn't look too bad and there are some quite nicely priced kit on there. ;)

Hi Ben

Thank you very much for your email and enquiry.

1. I have hereby attached the google analytics stats from when we launched the site in August 2011. As you can see there is consistent generic traffic to our website. www.southafricabike.com

2. We have highly optimised the site helping us achieve google page 1 rankings on alot of different keywords.

3. We have only loaded about 460 products as we have not had enough time to pursue this business and thought it might be more viable for someone in the industry. Our supplier has about 7000 products which can be loaded onto the site.

4. Our site is fully automated and included secure payment gateway integration accepting Visa and Mastercard payments as well as EFT as an option. Should you take over the site, you will have to get a merchant account with vcs.co.za and we will set it up for you on the site.

5. Shipping is done door to door, giving the South African customer peace of mind that they will receive their order. It normally takes 3-5 days for the customer to recieve their order. We use Specialised Freight Services for all our deliveries.

6. We have found that most customers are in outer lying areas such as Richards Bay, P.E, George, Mpumalanga etc as they dont have access to the products we offer in their towns. Another interesting point is that there have been alot of orders from women.

7. We have sold 1 bike online: YZ 125 and the other product sales such as helmets, givi top boxes etc had totalled R69K These sales can increase tremendously should you spend enough time on it.

8. Should you wish to purchase the online shop, we will provide full training on all the functionality, as well as give you the customer database, and contract with our supplier whom is based in JHB. Once an order is placed on the store, all you do is send the supplier as email with the order and they do the rest in terms of making sure the products are shipped etc.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or queries.

Kind Regards

Warrick

Hmm, so if we take the one motorbike out, (which was probably just a lucky shot) in 7 months they sold 69k. - lets say they netted 20k that's less than 3k profit a month (double   ) - that means it will take you almost 10 years to recover your money at the present rate. (Triple    )

............and there's no assets at all, except a website............ Sounds like a great business.!

Tell you what, I'll do better than that. My agency will build a great site for R150K that promises you everything but delivers nothing, you keep the difference, send the kids to a good school, buy the wife something nice and we'll call it a favour.

Deal? ;)

So I took the liberty of contacting the advertiser and it turns out out is a motorbike outlet and most of their sales have been for accessories with only one bike sold.
