I did 112km/h down Outeniqua pass in 2005. Nearly went off the side of the mountain and it tool me about 2km to stop.

 

ai...now you're making me regret that i didn't head out that way this holiday (only did Robinsonpass)

I managed to hit a new personal record of 96km/h on one of the downhills in Suikerbosrand yesterday. Only found out when reviewing my Polar data post-ride: If I had known at the time, I would have pushed for 100 .

i did 384 km/hr on  a slight downhill on the N3 the other day. I was riding a Porche 911 targa

In the Wilro Challenge 2 years ago I remember being too scared to descend Hekpoort in the bunch and did a prerace recce. I went off the front of the VB's with Jurie Krige (Tandem strongman), bunny hopping the speed "bumps" on my way down. I was focussing so hard on staying on the bike through the bends that I only noticed I hit 97kmh after the race....

 

There was another incident at 80kmh involving an eland in Suikerbosrand in the 2006 Vets tour on the descent out of the northern side..... well they said I was doing about that speed when I hit it...

Last week I had the opportunity to drive over Franschoek pass' date=' following a good cyclist on the decend down into Pose Town itself. He managed to do 80kph at times, according to the speedo in my mighty rental Hyundai Atos Prime GLX. Nice cornering, whoever that was.

However, this decend is in a different class.
