Superb break by Nibs. Did you see his bike handling on the descents - wow?

What a win by Iglinskiy.

Astana 1 and 3.

And another win last week. Team in baby blue doing well.

Superb race!

Was hoping Vincenzo would get it. That was a gutsy break and to make up that time on tha group was awesome. Well done to Iglinsky. Read an article on the release of the Evo last year and Nibali commented that he was confident descending with the Supersix previously and when he pushed too far that's when he crashed breaking his collarbone. Now he feels with the Evo he has yet to reach that limit on the descents as the machine is just awesome.

Just read that Iglinskiy thought he'd be racing for second when he dropped Rodriquez, but then saw Nibali was struggling when he caught him and went for it. Great ride. Iglinskiy credited a Vino's phone call before the race for giving him the idea that he could win it.

Interesting, it could almost be a classic Vino move, put your head down and just go for it. Nibs really faded when Iglinskiy passed him, and you could see he had resigned himself to second place, he wasn't going to catch him again.

Something like that:

"He said that if someone like Nibali or (Spanish favourite Joaquim) Rodríguez attacked, I mustn't panic."

"Instead I had to take my time, make a move when the favourites weren't expecting it, and go for the win.

"Now I'll try and pay Alexandre back by helping him get a stage victory in the Tour de France this summer. For me, this is the biggest win of my career."

Valverde and a few other riders were DQed for not following the route during the LBL, but taking a short-cut after following some media motorbikes.

*surely accidental*

Vino is going to be at the tour this year again.? I thought he had retired?.

Not that I mind, I have always admired his tenacity, and I can remember his exploits fondly, but I wouldn't really want to see him go out under a cloud with everyone saying "he has passed his sell by date", better to quit while you are still ahead in my opinion.

Alexandre Vinokourov has confirmed that he will ride one final Tour de France before his retirement from the sport, thus returning to the race he crashed out of last season.

The Astana rider’s statement comes as he prepares for the Presidential Tour of Turkey, which begins on Sunday.

Oh, okay, I'll look forward to his attacking style again but I am not holding out much hope of a stage win for him.

Dude? He's gonna be doped to the gills. I mean it's his last year, what's he got to lose.

Yeah, my heart sank when the carrot Nibs was in the visor of the Astana rider. And he was overtaken.

Just 2 kms too short.

That LGL course is brutal!

Not much, GOG, a cuppa kms...

It was a lil short cut so the camera crews can position themselves ahead of the race again.

When my eyeballs are bleeding and my legs are crying for Mama, I would follow any motorbike anywhere at km 220 on that LGL route.

Ivan needs some serious good luck as his form is not looking sharp at all with the Giro 2 weeks away!
