Bikesafe boxes

Does anyone have an opinion on the Bikesafe boxes (sold online by Bikesafe)?

Apart form the fact that you require an additional garage to store it in and will probably pay excess baggage fees, it looks pretty solid...

R3000 per box last time I checked.

Very heavy

Bike was not totally secure enough for me so I went with the Scicon one. Very happy!

 

90% of bikes fly in normal bike boxes. If you are going to spend $$$$ on a nice box (if you travel a lot with the bike) rather go with a nice one! IMHO

Those boxes weight twice as much as most bikes - im sure you would get charged extra on planes. I bought a great hardshell 2nd hand for R700, its light (obviously not made from hard re-enforced plastic), locks, has cusioning and wheels conpartments! Score!

Its a cool box , i hired one a while back from them directly .

 

only problem is your weight restriction at the airport , unless your bike is super light you will be over the limit as this thing is farking heavy.

 

Oh and if you own a large 29er of any make i doubt it will fit in without a good amount of disasebly or grease.
