Just to be sure - you have already removed the plastic thingy next to your cassette as well as any reflectors in your spokes?

 

Reflectors gone, but the chain plate will stay I guess

Nooooooo, the dork disc (chaine plate) is one of the firts things that have to come off for sure!

ha ha i have indicators AND bar ends....i'm doomed

 

Especially if you have indicators, bar end on rizes all ontop of a 29er!!!!

Taken mine off both of my bikes (DH & XC)

 

Reason? Lever positioning. the indicators foul with the brake levers.

 

Last night I removed my front derailleur from the XC bike. Converted to a 1x9. Also dremelled my right hand deore shifter so I could place it in the right way. No need for gear position indicators as I can feel where I am, and if i have no more gears, it just simply won't shift...

 

Getting bar ends & a wider bar soon.
