I think we will have to wait and see then , But what do you care Crow!

You have a BAD ASS Ibis :blush:

N+1...

PYGA could therefore just improve on their PR ... a simple reply email to the LBS would be the way to do things one would think

True of so many companies. My LBS even said they will do a straight transaction in order for PYGA to still make the same amount of profit on it, but the at least they can do the sale + the build.

Your LBS has the right idea there!

:thumbup: They are champs. When we sat down to discuss my SL-R's build kit and we realized we weren't gonna get some of the stuff locally they ordered it from CRC for me! How's THAT?! :clap:

Was considering a OneTen + HD, but in the end decided to go with the SL-R. Would still like to have a go at one though. I'm sure it will be a ripper of a ride and IMO it's one of the best looking 29ers out there. Let's wait and see what happens...

  • 2 weeks later...

So, the hype on the Pyga got to me as well, but.... seems no full bikes are available and one needs to build the bike yourself.

What would be the recommendation for a mid price Pyga with reasonable weight? eg i dont want to spend 100K to build a superlight bike, thinking more in the range of 30K or slightly above.

I weigh 100kg's (soon to be 90 ;) and need some advice from the experts on parts to use eg groupset / wheels ect

i think XTR / XX groupset might be too pricy??

(im a shimano fan and prefer a XT breaking system)

So far ive come up with:

Frame = 16,000

Groupset XT = 8,000

Wheels (Shimano XT) = 3,800

Stem = 600

Saddle = 800

Bars = 700

Seatclamp = 150

Seat post = 850

Tyres = 1200

Fork RockShox SID World Cup Dual Air 2011 = 7,500

Pedals XT = 700

The pricing on stem/saddle/bars/seatclamp/seatpost are pure estimates on average type items

Total = 40,250 which is getting a bit out of hand for my budget. The mag priced the Pyga at 31K but not sure how they managed that

You need a 120mm travel fork for the Pyga, the Sid is only 100mm travel.

I think Pyga are offering a limited number of complete bikes you can contact them via the website. Costs get out of hand quickly, I'm building everything from my 26 inch bike over to the Pyga apart from fork and wheels.

It almost looks like it might be more cost effective to buy a complete bike (ht) and build the parts over to the Pyga frame.

I've done this calculation a hundred times already and I'm never satisfied!

So far Full xt with mediocre wheels a front runner

Building over Hope X2 brakes and XO group set. Have bought a Fox Talas and am building wheels with Mavic rims and Hope hubs, will also sell my 26 inch fork and wheels and frame, thankfully. If I had to start from scratch I'd be stuffed.

I'd rather go for the revelation wc dual air, tbh.

SID can go 120mm (80mm, 100mm, 120mm)

So which fork and wheels are you planning on? I see the ZTR Race Gold (CWC) might not hold my weight but im not sure whether the Shimano XT Wheels have the right setup eg they have quick release skewers and not sure what the Pyga back triangle takes.

1. Race gold on that bike will kinda defeat the object of a PYGA 29er. It's meant and build to be ridden HARD. Crest will be the minimum rim weight / diameter/ spec I would recommend to do that bike justice.

Rear axle is a X12 with 142mm width meaning you'll need a 12x142mm hub or one that can run 12x142mm with adapters or end caps.

Ok, just to confirm then. i am no racing snake but planning to do some multi day events eg sani2c. Would the Pyga be optimal for thator should i go for a more conventional setup? from my understandng the Pyga can be raced as well?
