2012 Formula R1 or Shimano XTR brakes

Which of the below would you choose if you were building up a bike?

I think the R1 brakes are great but the lever looks a bit outdated. I think XTR trail is the way to go for good looks and super performance.

Presently on Formula-the One, only other brake i would chose for stopping power would be Magura 8's

Have R1's for close to 1 1/2 years.

 

Bled once (new when fitted), and never again.

Still HUGE stopping power!!!

Had R1's on my previous bike for 2 years, now have new 2012 XTR race brakes.

The stopping power of both is similar, but the sensitivity and bite point of the R1's are superior.

Bought the 2012 R1 Racings for Epic...will Not go back!

 

My riding partner bought the 2012 Xtr, we both torn, but After is brake blew on day 6 in the rain and mine did not
