Sounds like a lot of positive feedback. It's a pity it's so far out from where I am (JHB South). Will have to make a plan to get out there and experience it.

Anybody willing to make a comparison to Rietvlei and/or Thaba?

Well had a fantastic ride the trails have had a huge amount of work put into them . Yes they still a bit soft but this will pack down as more riders ride them .

My only criticism would be some better markings especially on the return loop of the blue as you end up going two ways on some single track section .

otherwise to have a trail 5km from home is for me friggen awesome .

Can't wait for it to be open in the week and can't wait for a monthly pass.

Well done Ricky and the team!

Yo...

I did the trail on Saturday morning with the early birds....

It was very loose and sandy...But in all fairness still very new and fresh....

At this stage Rietvlei is handsdown much better that the Modderfontein trail....

I think you should come around in About a month or two when thing have settled and some work has been done...

But none the less...AWESOME having a spot close to home....

Just hope on the return I will have a bit more fun...Like the first couple of KM's was AWESOME!!!

THANKS ALOT GENTS!!!

Went there yesterday and it was awesome, 5 minute ride from my house

Agree that the markings on the return leg of the blue route are confusing, we got lost a couple of times, a suggestion from a fellow rider was to maybe number the arrows?

Anyone know if its going to be open on Fridays? Quite a few of us are keen for a Friday afternoon ride there.

According to Ricky's comment earlier, only open on weekends for now. They will look at the week in Summer...

No real comparison... Rietvlei and Thaba's longer routes are very technical with very steep ups and downs and quite rocky. Modderfontein has no real rocky bits and on more than one occasion I thought I could be on Northern Farms single track. Most of it is a bit like Rietvlei's open vlei area but a bit steeper. There are some nice twisty sections through the trees too though. Once it is packed hard it will be very fast.

As a non “BMX” rider trying to get into the sport, I really enjoyed the trail. Bit confusing towards the end when all the later starters were cycling towards us.

Business opportunity : How about a bike wash center at 33 High Street Cafe/Restaurant. Took me the whole of Sunday to wash my bike.

Business opportunity: teach newbies how to clean their bikes properly in 15 minutes. Oh, actually I already do that
