When buying a frame, just make sure it has passed CEN testing.

Even though a frame could be strong enough, I will not support an organisation who does not have their products tested by an independant facility in line with an international standard test method.

When two frames come out of the same factory it does not neccessarily mean that the same quality of materials are used.

Would prefer to keep that to myself but any decent LBS should offer their good customers a discount on the retail price and the frame prices I mention above are correct.

First of all not any LBS sells Giant

Secondly the last time I looked(and bought direct from Dragons)you could not buy a Giant frame alone

Why?

It's not as if people are going to be snatching things from under your nose.

It could be a good thing, tell your LBS these people all came to them because of you, then you'll get an even better discount.

You get blanks and then you get blanks. Open moulds are where different shops share the same mould. So just because a Chinarello looks like a Pinarello it doesn't mean its gone through the same quality control(if any) and the materials used could be vastly different.

The trick is to do your research and find out who the reputable suppliers are. The roadbikereview forums are the perfect place to start. I prefer not to support the Chinese in any form whatsoever, even if its a legit brand like Pinarello. To me they represent everything thats wrong with this world.

I know its just about impossible not to buy Chinese in one form or the other, but if I have a choice then i'm buying the non chinese product.

I know you can definitely get the Anthem frames as aftermarket - they have different paint jobs to the complete bikes too (retail around R11k). Haven't seen the XTC, but sure you can get them.
