Hi All

I've been battling with a weak immune system. (Chronic Respiratory tract infections, bronchitis and Pneumonia)

This is mainly caused by being diabetic and a Splenectomy.

Does anybody have ideas or suggestions on how to boost my immune system?

Best is to see your doc. My doc put me on Moducare and Gericomplex (S5) when I got a virus (Coxsackie) about 3 years ago. The Moducare works like a bomb.

Mmmmm, nutrition??? Might be worth seeing a nutritionist who can look at your specific health and exercise needs. My kind of 'forum' advice though is to try moducare - capsules or as futurelife cereal. That plus high doses of garlic as a virus/infection strikes seems to work for me. Along with making sure basic vits etc. (esp vit b ) are always covered. Haven't got as far as the olive oil and beetroot yet...

Hope you both come right...

Edit: vitamin b turned into a smiley???!

Tonsils out - diet and supplements also good.

I'll look at Moducare and speak to Dr about Gericomplex.

Thank you for all the replies

I am a Type 1 (insulin dependent) diabetic, and have been using Moducare for about three years now. Can honestly say it has greatly improved my susceptibility to illness and infection. Placebo effect? Don't know. But it works for me.

Lost spleen and kidney in two serious vehicle accidents. Both lungs were also punctured.

I recently looked into the pump option and Continuous Glucose Monitoring, but I'm on a medical aid option which doesn't cover it and upgrading my medical aid option would've cost an extra R1500 per month or I would've had to pay R40,000 for the equipment and an extra R1000 per month for the consumables. I envy you with your pump - sorry about your spleen and kidney though. Try the Moducare!!
