Not to keen on those discs, the look super bulky. Crank design looks pretty muck the same wich is disappointing

I hear ya Mad. I'm not a shimano hub fan, so they can keep those and their centre lock rotors. The RD looks awesome, pedals may be worth a try...

And yeah the crank looks like it just got a graphics change. If that is the case, I actually prefer the look of the current Saint cranks

"Shimano's 2013 Saint launch went off at the Sea Otter in front of an enthusiastic crowd, where we noticed a prototype chainguide which breaks a few rules and looks quite promising. The bash guard, which is intended to be an addition to the Saint group is segmented so that riders who favor one foot forward can save some rotating weight and run only one segment on the side of the crankset that faces downwards. Riders who can corner and jump with either foot leading can run two segments. Shimano states the weight of a single-segment guide is 147 grams, which is definitely race worthy."

Looks good.

Was looking at Saint for my Titus but realised at that stage it was only 9 speed, so rather chose XT.

10 speed wears way too quickly for me so I'm sticking with 9.

that looks similar to the bash guard that BMXers run. I've always thought it looked a little odd.

I get the rotating weight thing... but isn't a chainguide with a taco just simpler if one doesn't want a full bashguard.

I heard that Shimano got burnt at the stake for launching hubs that STILL use that silly cup-n-cone system. This is thier extreme range... come on fellas, get with the times! cartridge sealed bearings!

How can you not like those discs? I'm thinking that finally someone has done something sensible about brake cooling. Those discs appear (I guessing here) to be of the new sandwiched stainless - aluminium - stainless type found on the latest XT and XTR discs. Shimano mooted those as better cooling because of alu's excellent heat conductivity. However, when you have a piece of alu inside a stainless sandwich, the heat cannot flow out other than at the very narry margin right around the edges. This would be negilible.

However, what they seem to have done here is to make the alu part protrude significantly (those are the strange bits on the inside of the disc). This will allow for very effective air cooling and absolutely makes sense.

I wonder if they came up with this idea only after someone called their bluff on the first bit of nonsense.

As for their hubs, it is a shame. I can't believe they're sticking to their guns on their very, very poor hub design.
