I will start a ride from Carlucci's on Upper Orange Street, every Thursday at 5pm. If anybody wants to come along for a ride of an hour and a bit , you're welcome. The route will go past the Herzlia field into Deer Park and then towards the Blockhouse, head up to Tafelberg Road and then down on to the Jeep Track towards Kloof Nek. Up to Signal Hill Viewpoint and then down the Jeep Tracks towards Poyser Road and back through Tamboerskloof. Join in and peel off where you like.

I will set out rain or shine at 5pm sharp. Email me if you need more Info: ride@ tablemountainbikers.co.za

The route may vary depending on what guys feel like (add in Plumpudding Hill from the Rhodes Mem side ). I will look at the feasibility of riding the contour trail above the German School and we might include that.

First ride was me, myself and I. It was to be expected, but the weather was great. Dry, water coming off the mountain, very pretty.

I ride anyway ,so I am not too fussed riding on my own, it would be nice though to see more interest. Most people are sitting on the fence, watching.

Thursday I ride again.

I am looking to join a few MTB groups in and around CT so I would love to join if I can make it in time.

I’m kind of a newbie so I don’t know the terrain that well… is it a fairly tricky route? I’m fine with downhill, I’m just not yet strong enough for long steep uphills.

Hi there Victorious Secret. Thanks for mail.I still go out and ride on a Thursday, but since it's pretty much me on my own, I ride at my own pace and do some intervals. From what you wrote I would say that my pace may be faster than yours and you might find it hard to keep up. The terrain is not that technical, but there are long uphills all over the place.

I am trying to get more interest in the group rides going , which would then bring out riders of varying abilities and be more suitable for you.

Please keep an eye on this Forum for updates.

I am out of town for 2 weeks as of Monday so nothing will happen during the week in that time.

HI DevC. Uptake is rubbish, to put it mildly. I think that most riders pretty much do their own thing and find it a hassle to try and hook up with other riders outside their circle. I think it's a Cape Town thing and not likely to change. The TMB forum is hardly used either, it just shows how little cohesion there is. But, F it, I'll keep doing my thing.

I think what puts guys off is the variances in skill level and fitness, no one likes to be a handbrake! To be honest it is my prob too. being winter doesn't help either. The fact is the more that join the more diverse the level of MTBers will be to ride with. We have frikken bikes and a beautiful mountain to play on!!! :w00t:

I tend to agree with you. But how do you measure fitness (perhaps more than skill level) in an email or Forum like this, without coming across like a Dick?

Races completed means very little, but might point in a certain direction. Some guys never enter a race , but are super fit. Others act as if they are racing snakes and then end up holding you up after the first couple of meters.

A group ride needs to be self-perpetuating in order for it to cater for all fitness levels. If a weaker rider oganises it, you get the fitter ones staying away and vice versa.

I'll ride with anyone, stronger or slower than myself. As long as we get on.

I am pretty much committed to setting up a regular ride, but if nobody pitches, then I also change my schedule as it pleases me and might not ride on that day. I tried it with the weekly Night Ride, but the same thing. No commitment, so I left it.

The only ride which seems to work is when I give notice of a longer ride out of town, like Grabouw or Wellington. Then the okes are keen to come along. When we rode Groenlandberg, we were a group of 10, guys and girls, slower and stronger riders. It worked out well for everyone and we all had a great day out, even though it rained.

Maybe I should put out a call for a ride out in the sticks again.

I am pretty new in CPT, been off the bike for 2 months after completing the 360 challenge

Would like to join regular rides, I usually ride from home over chappies to " Ou wapad" because i dont know the Table Mountain routes

I am not a racing snake, but love riding with all skill levels.

Would really like to join group rides, if youre stronger than me then you can do some intervals while I catch up

Who do I contact?

Hi Bane

Sorry for the late reply. I was riding a new event from Houw Hoek to Knysna last week.

Weather dependent I will ride tomorrow. You are welcome to join. I am taking it easy, I have no Stage races for a while now.

I leave from the top of Kloof Street. Opposite Bacini's. 5pm , but can also make it at 4:30pm.

A group of us often ride in Tokai on the weekends and the pace is mixed but nothing hectic! We are doing a group ride out in Oak Valley this Saturday, pm me if you would like further details
