I have noticed a very small amount of residual oil on one of the stanchions of my Fox 32 120RL after each of my last few rides. My LBS said this was normal for a Fox fork. Are they correct, or do I need new seals (the fork only is 6 months old)?

There's light on the horizon. This week it is Tata's turn to own Land Rover. From now on it can only go better.

But to get back to oil on stanchions. If the one stanchion is much oilier that the other, you have a problem, especially if the oil starts to run down the fork's leg. Moistness is OK, dripping is Land Rover syndrome, have it fixed. Those fork seals don't last long, but their life can't be measured in units of time, only hours of riding.

Stanchion seals are very, very easy to fix and takes you 20 minutes max. You'll need an alan key, a bit of oil, a 25cc syringe and of course, new seals. You can get genuine Fox/Rox/Whatever seals from your bike shop for R80 each or you can get generic ones from a bearing or hydraulic shop for a 10th of that.  Buy them by the dozen.

I thought units of time were seconds, hours, days etc, but I guess you know better)
