Silverback. Born and bred in Germany?!

You again, sigh.

Please read my post Covie, and carefully before replying

My Merida was made in Taiwan

My Zaskar was made in Taiwan

My Raleigh is made in China

My Trek 9.9 was made in the USA

Nowhere did I have an issue with bikes made in the East.

My post is about silverback letting go of their SA roots as if they are ashamed of being a South African company.

Please do not antagonise me simply for the sake of it as i do not wish to put you on ignore.

Ray

And your the one with your panties in a twist mate, I have no beef with you neither do I have any desire, I will point out where people have missconecptions regardless of who you are.

ARE YOU DRUNK?

Show me my misconception?

Spell it out?

Highlight in my post where I rant about the east.

Gave up on silverback when they gave up on the whole South African brand image.

Momsen uses SA as a selling point even if their bikes come from the east.

Instead Silverback have a collection of meaningless sound bites.

What do Germans know about bikes anyway?

They have Focus, made in the east and uh, well, silverback now. Proud tradition of cycling excellence.

Thanks dude you finally did the world a favour look at the BIG RED LETTERS as quoted above ... jeeez some people.

Anyway back on topic now that our friend has found it difficult to win a debate on merrit.

Will you stop buying a SB now that it says made in germany, does it really mean that much compared to the value for money aspect?

covie, do yourself and us a favour and go have a look in the dictionary for the meaning of the word 'context'

Then, read the sentence you highlighted IN CONTEXT. In other words, see how it relates to the other sentences in TZmtb's post.

Here, let me help:

"Gave up on silverback when they gave up on the whole South African brand image.

Instead Silverback have a collection of meaningless sound bites."

What he means, is that Momsen stands by it's SA roots as opposed to Silverback who doesn't. That is all. Nothing negative about eastern manufacturing in there. Are you afrikaans, because you certainly don't have a very firm grasp of the english language? See that little red word...."Instead"....that's your key as that connects the two sentences to form a single statement.

Please, learn to play nice

Mintsauce im glad you read it that way go read the Momsem "special" thread and then come back to me with that same opinion. And I am playing nice, besides if you read it in context all frames are made in ASIA Momsen, payga, morewood (well the tubes anyway) and they are branded as SA. That Momsen sentance implies that momesen does nothing but import Asian designed frames and rebrands them as a SA product.

I was merely pointing out to the chap that almost all bikes are made in ASIA and rebranded under their countries flags. Same as apple is made in korea but sold as an american product.

Ok so everybody agrees that most bike companies develop a bike and them have it made in the east. We don't like Silverback saying Germany has more biking pedigree than SA and is therefore a better launch pad for a brand.

Me I want my next bike to be made in SA even if I pay a bit more. Our labour costs are higher after all. I want my purchase to be an endorsement of our engineering ability as a nation. I want to know somebody in my country is feeding his family with dignity because he built a bike. We used to be able to produce anything now we are importing everything.

So will Pyga frames also come from the East?
