VENUE IS THE CIRCUS GROUNDS, FRANSCHHOEK (OPPOSITE THE HUGUENOT MONUMENT)

 

DRIVE THROUGH MAIN ROAD FRANSCHHOEK, TURN RIGHT AT THE T-JUNCTION AND THEN LOOK OUT FOR PARKING ON YOUR LEFT. REGISTRATION WILL BE IN A WHITE MARQUEE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD. REGISTRATION FROM 6H30 - 9H00, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE REGISTERED AT LEAST HALF AN HOUR BEFORE YOUR START..!

How technical is the 40km? I'm coming off an injury and still a bit "scared" of the crazy stuff.

The 40 was great, really enjoyed the ride, my first mud bath ever. Know I no my rear tyre aint any good in the mud.

I am not sure where we went wrong, but ended up directed onto a shortcut that cut 14km'ss out of the race. I took off my number and continued for while when mechanicals due to the mud forced me to go home.

Quite a few of us also took a wrong turn at 28km's only to be told about 2 km's later we had 4 km's to go. So we rode back. Did an extra 4 km's of mud. Just finished cleaning the bikes. That was hard work!! But a great event and well organised. Will be back next year again. The trip into town afterwards to enjoy the Bastille festivities was also well worth the outing to Franschhoek.
