100-120km at 28 - 29km/h Brakenfell to somewhere up Franschoek Pass and back. But that is now while we are trying to get fit. Can't ride with the training groups just yet as I am too slow and fat.

Those stats are not bad...... except for not summiting Franschoek pass  :whistling:

Join the Andrag group or follow the Durbanville Area Roadies (thread) and join some rides. The fat will disappear fast (I lost 15Kg's in 2 years and I still want to lose more) with the correct diet (controlled intake) and regular training.

Back to OP though, I average around 30 to 32 depending on how I feel. Carrots (guys ahead of me in the distance) are my weakness  I set my sights on catching them and go for it

I average 29 km/h on flat roads at high altitude over 95km on my own. I also once averaged 28.6 over 44km which included two passes, although in the process of doing this I ended up with tendonitis.

I'm chuffed when I can do a 4hr tempo ride with just over 1000m of climbing at anything over 32km/h - on my own, and usually with a nasty South Easter for half the ride...

That's pretty hard riding there...

My seeding for the summer season was D.

With a 3.5 hr ride with roughly 800 - 900 metres ascent. during December - the hiatus of racing season, 29-31 km/h avg is a good training result.
