...so Airoh have been pretty hush-hush about their upcoming DH lid. At a glance I couldn't even see any info about it on their site...

but here's what I did find...

Behold! The Airoh Fighter DH

So yeah... hopefully the local Airoh importers will get these in the not too distant future. Hopefully they won't cost a kidney... because I'd sure love one as a replacement for my tired 661 Evo.

I really really approve of this. Airoh lids in general are not cheap so expect this one to be dear.

The real significance of this for me is that yet another Moto company is looking to expand in to the DH scene. One Industries, Renthal, Oneal, POC, 5.10 and now Airoh. They must know something....

Ok POC is a ski brand and 5.10 is a rock climbing brand but you get the idea.

From what I know the SA distributor should have them within next shipment or 2.

We have been racing in the Airoh MX helmets this year, (Dave and Matt in the stelt, and myself in the Aviator) and hopefully we will have these bad boys for the Nat Champs. There is a savage looking black and flourescent yellow one, but I cant post a pic.

haha! I saw a pic of the black and lumo-yellow one on a site somewhere. It does look awesome!

What would be the advantage of the Fighter over the Aviator? The weights must be about the same (Aviator possibly even lighter). Visibility perhaps? (DH/BMX helmets seem to be more open around eyes and cheek bone region). Ventilation?

Oh, BTW how's the arm doing?

@Patches I want that lumo one so bad!!

Yeah they're both top of the range materials, so weights will be similar.

From what i can tell, more open around face area, shorter peak and chin bar, more ventilation (no roost to deal with), also a shorter fin that sticks out the back and slightly higher cut around the neck for more movement looking around trees etc.

Also its DH specific safety rating, interesting read on pinkbike about this: http://www.pinkbike.com/news/DH-Helmets-vs-Motocross-Helmets-Which-Is-Safer.html

Wrist is about 70% there, rode XC for the first time on saturday. Was tender and weak but hopefully 3 weeks now till some DH riding. Thanks for asking bud.

I'm deff in on the lumo yellow one. It looks a bit like like Adrea Ianoni's Moto GP lid. Any idea on pricing and availability from the distributor?
