Quite possible the Nigerian is involved. He hid the bike in the back and spun you a story.

What really gets me hot under the collar is the fact that somebody paid a fortune for this bike. Probably in an effort to live a healthier lifestyle.

But then some pimple on the worlds butt comes along and steals the bike.

Why do we have to accept such crap in this world

Kudos and huge respect to you - it is that sort of mindset (as opossed to the apathy) that will make this country a better place. In my humble opinion that is.

Good job for taking the effort to chase the guy

Stolen flat screen TV's are sold for R50 in the taxi ranks so bikes wont get much more.

Now this might sound stupid..but I think them prawns sometimes steel bikes to use their parts. On many occasions I've seen rubbish old bikes, clearly old pieces of junk with carbon DTswiss forks, XT drivetrains, Truvativ noir seatposts with sella italia seats! Even a set of DTswiss disc rims, on a bike using V-brakes. All on different bikes. Are they taking one bike and fixing a bunch with it? And how do they put the good parts on their k@k bikes? Is there an ex mechanic or two helping them out?

There are many skilled ghetto mechanics out there. These guys know how to make a plan and make something work. No need for a specialist mechanic. Just a guy with a monkey wrench and half a clue of what he is doing.

Many of the stolen bikes make their way north across the border.
