KZN DH event ... Rico's/Comleys DH track ... 10th June - Trail-Bike FRIENDLY Track

Recommended Posts

Calling all DH and Trail riders in KZN

Come and join in on the 10th of June at Ricos DH track in PMB for a really enjoyable race day.

The track is not difficult and only has 2 large gap jumps that you can easily go around if you are not up to it. Dont be afraid to bring your 5 or 6 inch travel trail bike and give it a go ... its not too steep but has just enough in it to get your adrenaline going.

Unofficial practice will be on Sat (meaning there is no uplifts) ... but guys will be riding so you just need to make a plan when you there to try get lifts ... or just use your own cab with some mates ... if you havent met anyone yet dont be intimidated as, as GGZA, Grebel, Pierre and Geecee found out ... all the DH guys are really cool and will definately offer you a lift if you ask nicely.

Then on Sunday practice starts at about 8:30 or so with racing from about 12:30 ... you get 2 timed runs down the track.

There is a FUN CLASS for all the noobies as well ... so you dont have to come to your first race and put yourself up against the hotshots. ... you can just race your mates.

All you need is :

entry fee ... i think its R150 (which covers shuttles for sunday as well)

A long sleeve shirt (doesnt matter as long as its long sleeve)

A pair of gloves

A FULL FACE HELMET ... even an old MX helmet will do ... just needs to be Full Face

A bike

A SMILE ...

Some beers for after ... to calm the adrenaline

If you are keen to join in let me know on here and i will upload directions and full schedules when they become available

nige how many n00bs generally rock up, and how many on AM/Trail bikes?

it depends dude ... there are some guys who have just bought DH bikes who will race in the Fun "Sports" class as well .. but there is generally 1 or 2 lighties on hardtails as well. So just pull in ... your Teocali will be hundreds just put the seat down.

Remember the Fun class is exactly that .... FUN ... so your bike is of no consequence

haha fun shmun, it all becomes competitive :)

this teocali has a *** design in terms of the seat post, but yes it will be as low as it can go :D

good ... oh and a trick - go to the bike shop with your current seat post and buy a cheap one the same diameter for like 100 bucks - come home and cut it down to size - then when you going to ride DH just unbolt and swop your seat over onto the short post. ... Cheaper than buying a new DH bike ...
