Link did not resolve properly...

Hi All,

We’ve spoken to some but not all of you. Our local bike group have got together thanks to Giniel De Villier’s impetus with a goal of maintaining and developing the single track in Jonkershoek. On Tuesday evening we met Bennet Nel and Paul “The Plumber” at the Specialized Offices. Bennet is the man behind much of the single track we’ve all come to love in this stunning valley. Our little bike group have given ZAR 2,000 per head with some giving more, while Specialized have thrown ZAR 32,000 into the pot. We are sitting with about ZAR 45,000 currently not a bad way to start. We’d love you to spread the word (PLEASE PASS THIS EMAIL ON). There’s no pressure on how much is given – every little bit helps. Giniel is managing the finances, while Bennet is making sure the money goes towards our big playground!

The short-term goals currently are:

A) to extend “Canary” three levels up to the bench (Bennet is determining the possibility and cost). The track will be similar in style to the current “Canary” just double the length!! How cool is that!

B) open “Neverending Story” again, also known as “Mason’s” and extend it another three levels up meaning it would start on the same level as the new extended Canary. “Neverending Story” was a kick ass trail until that big fire arrived.

Longer-term goals:

C) either fix the steep downhill track that recently got felled and extend two more levels up or build a new DH track from the top level

D) single track high up around the entire valley linking all single tracks down

E) Fix up the single track near the dam deep in the valley

I reckon gym membership goes for ZAR 2k per year … that’s a good way to justify the spend!

Finally, now is the time to build. The soil is easier to dig and so forth. Bennet wants to push hard now to get as much as possible done.

If you are interested contact Giniel @ giniel[AT]gdvmail.com who can provide banking details.

Thanks a million,

Bobby.

Great news! Will be even better if we can get a cyclist involved at the managing side of Jonkershoek, will be great if say 10% of the entrance fees can go to trail maintenance and better entrance control
