First time for everything i guess....

Never has an Ausie won the tdf twice in a row....

We can go on for hours :whistling:

I think the point here in question is whether Wiggo has peaked too early.

His camp says he is yet to peak.

He is also working on a plan to be at 90% for most of the season - his coach (swimming specialist) has this philosophy.

Interesting, Cav.

Never in the history has the winner of this race gone ahead and won TdF....

Are you daft?

I knew lance had, but here's 6 more:

Seven racers also won the Dauphiné Libéré and the Tour de France in the same year: Louison Bobet in 1955, Jacques Anquetil in 1963, Eddy Merckx in 1971, Luis Ocaña in 1973, Bernard Thévenet in 1975, Bernard Hinault in 1979 and 1981, Miguel Indurain in 1995 and Lance Armstrong in 2002 and 2003.

(should have know the cannibal had as well...)

Eddy Merckx, '71.

(I see TNT1 found a few more)

In short, just about the best Tour riders ever have completed this double. makes Wiggo look good now.

It must've been an error in the article I read, dude.

Thanx for the heads up.

The Romandie-Nice-Dauphiné treble, however, is a feat that is Wiggins's alone: no other cyclist has managed to win all three in a single season.

Three riders in the top five at Dauphine? Sky look like having all the cards to play in July. Evans looks to have good form, and then we will have to see what shakes out in Switzerland.

Wiggins, Evans, Froome, Menchov, Kreuzinger. Not in that order though...

1979 and 1981 Hinault

1995 Indurain

2002 and 2003 the texan

At least 2 great champions have done it before.

I agree with all of the above i'll just swop Evans for Vincenzo Nibali or maybe even Tony Martin

I don't think either of them can stay with the group in the high mountains, and the rest of them are easily Martin's match in the TT, and I think the amount of TT km's is too much for Nibbles.
