My thoughts on bib shots go like this:

- Assos are good but not the god pants that everyone makes out and deffo not in this country at the start off price. If you get them out of somewhere overseas like Bikeinn then they are alot more reasonable. I find them a bit like wearing a nappy.

- Instead of Assos I have Castelli Aero bibs as my race shorts, they have beaten Assos in a few mag shootouts recently and are all time. Loads of different material and good style.

- Training shorts or general all rounders you can't go past Giordana. The silverliners are super comfortable, stupidly well made and full of tech. Here they are about R850 I think and I have 3 pairs and will get more. Overseas you can find them for £46 odd. The more pimp ones with white can also be called the Trade versions. 100% recommend them.

- Buycycle have a special on Decca shorts out of Belguim and I've heard good things about them. Never ridden in them though.

Don't know anything about velotex...

If you can stretch your budget then go for the Assos!

I've been using Velotex "red label" for a few years now and their quality is Superb and definately a contender.

Also depends on what price you getting them at....they not the cheapest, last I checked they cost R850.

BTW...Velotex now has a Factory Shop which opened on the 1st June. Some Great Specials going......

I've used Specialized Bibs for the past 4 years. I've been really happy with them. about R 900.

Haven't been able to try others, as I've only cycled for 4 years, but IMHO Specialized are great value.

I need to get myself some bib short pant to tide me over until I can afford the Assos Mille I would like to get when I win the lotto.

Im thinking somewhere around the R1 500 mark.

What do you feel stands out at that price?

My next question is do you know anything about Velotex Red Label bibs?

Being someone who charges around in baggies - what do Assos Miles cost if you have to save for them but can fork out R1500 on other pant?

Hellocolor has pretty much hit the pricing on the head, but I can get some Velotex Red Label's for under R600 :whistling:
