Help.......What do I need to do not to break my neck

Go flats. There's no shame in it.

Clipping in isn't the "only" way, it's just "another" way. Sure, it's better in certain ways, but is it crucial? I don't think so.

Thanks......I am a old Tannie that decided to start cycling. Tried it in my lounge last nignt and nearly destroyed the fish tank.

I don't want to laugh at your expense but any chance there was a webcam there to capture the moment. That sounds bloody funny :whistling:

Hi - I am a new member - just saw your post. The first day I got cleats (Shimano PDM530 - can clip in on any side), I went to the MTN Bike Park...... And Fell off a bridge into a river... - however, they make a HUGE difference when you ride, and I got used to mine very quickly. Although sometimes I forget to unclip......

I have not got shoes yet (still new), but I have always wondered about MTN bike park and shoes. I love going there, but can't imagine wearing shoes for it as there are some hectic technical parts

Practice twisting your heel sideways and not lifting your foot. Always harder when on flat easy surfaces. Amazing how easily you clip out when in a tight tech spot on a trail before you tip and roll, without even thinking about it.

Just one small detail.... when in the process of falling down... do NOT , under any circumstances throw your body in one direction and the bike in another. with arms flailing........ just stop and hold your handle bars and let gravity do its job. Far less painful. I think.

Just set the spring adjust to very loose, Your cleats will clip out easily enough.

When you get the hang of it Tighten up.

For get all this nonsense about riding on grass, that's for when you take your training wheels off girls...

The bike park is technical, yet fun. I am very new to cycling. It's quite nerve wracking :w00t: Only been doing it for 3 or so months. I have normaly Olympic shoes - R500.00 - But they're perfect for me :)

I found Crank Brothers Eggbeater/Candy pedals are easier to unclip than Shimano style ones, even with the Shimano ones on the weakest setting. Unfortunately everybody falls over once or twice in the beginning.

R500? Where! Where! I am looking for a pair of shoes. Yeah, what I meant is I go to the bike park a lot. But with normal shoes... The angle grinder and zombie bird house is a lot easier with normal shoes :w00t: But I have to invest in a pair of cycling shoes soon. Guess you'll be way ahead of me in learning how to use them!
