would you spend money on the wheelset or the forks

Keep in mind the current 2012 Reba's are almost 250 grams lighter than the recon, i rode the recon its really not a bad fork but 250grams weightloss is a huge gain for relativly little money extra. thats if you have normal quick release or 15mm maxle.

Many happy miles im sporting a shiny RLT Ti myself :)

*Hijack on*

Building 29'ers for Trans Baviaans. Chinarello full carbon frames, Reba RLT, American Classic Race 29'er wheels - 1419g, and carbon everywhere else. Bikes are going to be super light and rocking!

Did you know the 2012 Reba's weigh only 2 grams heavier than SID's ? I think I read somewhere that the SID's have slightly better damping units. Not worth the extra R1-2k to go SID. And either way, the damping won't be worse than say a 2011 Reba...

its not my fred hijack away :) and yeah i did know that, ill still take the reba over the sid anyday since its more the lockout system on the sid thats better than the reba, "for true racers" but i never lock my fork anyway.

Ok now hijack off.

I use lockout all the time. And no, my pedaling action isn't choppy. Doesn't matter what, you can't put serious power into your pedals standing up without some bob. Lock the b1tch out, stand up and rocket forward

Fox for sure.

Why?

Reasons why not:

  1. Over-priced
  2. Seriously expensive to service
  3. Battle to give full travel
  4. Spares are expensive
  5. Unlike a Reba you can't change travel from 80mm all the way up to 120mm by adding or removing spacers
  6. Needs lots of TLC to get plush

Tapered, 15mm through axle?

So skaars soos hoender tande daai Rebas

Tapered, 9mm QR.

Ek sien nie die advantage in TA nie. Moer, ry mens deesdae XC so rof dat mens 'n TA nodig het? Nee wat.

Hi jack on .... no pics and the bikes are not real ... Hi jack off

I know that its not possible on most bikes but I rate a Lefty higher that any other shock that I have ridden (and I have ridden most of them).

I was sceptical before riding one but I am now sold.

Good luck with your decision.

You might have missed the part where I said that we're busy building bikes. :whistling: So the bikes are not finished yet. Just have the forks now, and some of the other parts land tomorrow.

 roadie! Add Marzocchi & Manitou to your list Cavendish, then you have covered them all!

Dont forget Niner if the OP wants to go rigid ;)
