Johan, are you VERY sure about the rotating mass thing.  I heard from a cousins sisters aunts best-friends younger brothers girlfriend whos dad's grandfathers younger brothers son-in-law is a rotating mass scientist that what Konafan says might be true and that he's working on the thesis. If you take the time to deflate your road tires once a week, and then carefully inspect and squeeze the tire you will be amazed at the large amount of glass shards that you can pick out of the tire rubber.

The sludge will stop any of the tiny small slow punctures that would result from these shards.

It wont do anything to stop a big hole though. With sludge there is no science to installing it in the presta valves, just follow instructions and use vaseline as it tells you to, and my valves have been fine.
