I am not sure of this route. Hans Strydom, Rigel, through Hatfield etc. Those road are very busy. The last 100km batch leaves at 9:30. That is a full day with cyclist everwhere from PTA east to Hatfield & Lynnwood. It would be great to do the race but the logistics will be a nightmare

Looks like 'n nice event. I have heard that the want to get 6000-8000 riders to make the event happen. Do you think that there is going to so many people entering?

Are you involved in organizing the race?

If so, can you give a bit more info on the road closure issue? How will you get all the cyclist through the busiest streets in PTA?

Yes, I am involved with the organising of the event. It is going to be a little bit of a challenge this year, we are very proud to have approval for partial road closures and Metro is fully on boad with securing the safety of our cyclists, we hope to get total road closure for next year. This year we have 230 Tswane Metro officials assisting on the day as well as some Think Bikie officials. The martials are all organised as well as the Time Keeping system. This is going to be a wonderful event this year and in the future!!! Hope to see you all there!!!

Hi SantaReynolds - is there any reason why the routes do not run in the opposite direction? Would have made more sense to me for two reasons:

1 - Gets the part of the route with busy roads done earlier before traffic

2 - Anti-clockwise results in more left turns which is a smaller impact on traffic and safer for cyclists than right turns.

Hi! The route was finalised and approved after months of negociation with Metro and other involved parties. Due to road works and upgrades we had to change the original planned route many times. We wanted a challenging route and will definately take your comments into consideration for next year.

Hi Anine, please follow the link of the race website http://silvercycling.co.za/ . The routes and profiles can be viewed and downloaded as a pdf file from the main page under the "Home" tab and then clicking on the "Route" tab . It will be available on the i-tickets site from tomorrow as well. See you on the 9th and good luck with your training!
