  1. Ask yourself this - have you ever regretted spending money on something like this which is an experience you are curious about. My guess from your posts above is this will probably be "no" so I think you should just do it. Its less about whether it is "useful" and more about whether you will enjoy going through it.
  2. You're not "screwed" with the defender style gooseneck you just have to use the attachment + extender. You then either choose to leave the tow bar out with the attachment on (no worse than a non deployable towbar), or you would have to remove and attach the attachment when you want to use the rack if you want to stow the towbar. Yes sure its not ideal that it costs R3-R4k more (extender cost itself is the same) but its a very feasible option otherwise.
  3. I think Velocompact rack has a an adapter, something like this: https://www.thule.com/en-za/bike-rack/accessories/thule-velocompact-spare-wheel-adapter-_-924100

  5. Welcome to this forum. Im sure there will be many people on here that can give you advice. South Africa is beautiful and the trip will be epic, but important to plan routes and accomodation carefully so no security issues.

  13. Hi all, are there recommendations for any shops or mechanics that are specialists in tri bikes in Jhb preferably near Greenside/Parkview.
  14. I owned one of the original suitos and own a kickr now (not the core, but understand it to be similar). I would go with the kickr hands down.
  15. See whether this video possibly helps you
  16. If you can afford it go with the kickr core or kickr. Going 2nd hand is certainly an option, but based on your post perhaps new with warranty will suit your needs better. The trainer can be controlled with the the wahoo app or a range of garmin devices with no additional subscription. Apps like Trainerroad or zwift are not required but if desired can be used have an additional cost subscription. It's an expensive purchase but a great training aid.
