Karooryder. As this is a new race, it will not be a seeding event for this year. All the criteria and demand from participants will be taken into consideration for the event in future.

why then the enforced csa membership (or day license fee) and timing chip if this isnt a seeded event?

also how will you determine the open starting batches in the 50 if you're not taking seeding into consideration?

Hi all,

The 100 km route, if I rode it correctly is a good fitness test. From the start out onto Lynnwood, Boschkop n back via Garsfontein road, should be fast. Its reasonably flat for the first half, compared to Hans Strydom Drive (Solomon Mhlangu or something).

The little jaunt up HS will warm you up for Rigel. Take a drive from the N1 over Rigel, its not as nasty as it looks but then again, it ain't gonna be easy after 70 odd kms but at least the climbs are much shorter than HS. I just couldn't hold my speed up those Dolly Partons, and I am looking forward to race day.

C'mon guys, if we want an annual race in Pretoria, we need to support the events that we do get.

I've entered - it's also just on my doorstep so I'm pretty excited - I train on most of those roads and it will be fun being able to cycle to a race for a change. Rigel is going to be a real bugger! A few points though - the website definitely didn't work on my PC. Here's the error it gave :

"Forbidden. You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request"

Worked on my Fiance's PC though, and my Mobile too - odd. The iTicket site was also definitely more cumbersome to use than the usual on-line entry sites - not sure if that was just me though.

Finally - no mention in the PTA news of the road closure, or road closure boards? - I hope that this doesn't cause chaos and then go the same way as the old Outsurance race in Pretoria - because we really need a big local event this side of the world!

Don't remind us about that one... the road closures plus the lack of motorists actually listening to the marshalls was shocking.

I don't know how you can actually get all these roads [semi]-closed off properly, but good luck to them, in all honesty. These are busy roads but they are awesome to ride on either way.

Hi Anine

CSA membership is compulsory as we have to organise and register the race through Cycling SA.

We use existing seeding figures for the race and starting batches, therefore the necessity for the timing chips.
