Thanks Cyclewizz, I'm gonna have to start doing lots of secret training to even try finish with the bunch. The weekend rides just won't cut it.

The start / end road surface was really crappy. LBS has many bikes checked in with broken spokes, rims and even a cracked frame - just laughed when i walked in with mine. And those rumble strips are hectic - just too many to hop over if you're boxed in and can't get around them. And my butt hurts!

I did no have time to look around at the road surface. Other than the rumble strips (which I could mostly miss) I thought the surface was good. Two years ago they were working on the road (the square patches of new tar). Dodging those, together with the short route riders were hectic.

 

At least this year there were very little overlap with the short routers!
