That new bike calling you ........................

Not really, just bought it for races.... playing in the mud/dirt/dust just always had more of an appeal to me... :)

At this moment though - I am keen to be on any one of the saddles ....

Any of you also do the road thing?

Or ride MTB during the week?

(I miss that of my days in PE...Tuesdays and Thursdays rides)

Sure. Twice :-)

what if I own a road bike, but never ride it...does that make me a roadie as well?

I prefer to think of myself as a closet roadie, rather than a dirt roadie. this is how I see it:

Closet roadie - MTBer that also does the odd road ride/race.

Dirt roadie - Roadie that do the odd MTB ride/race.

Closet roadies are constantly thinking about jumping the pavement or any obsacle that presents itself

Dirt roadies are those that come past you at the speed of light on the district roads during races, just to hold you up in the single track / technical / fun bits.

I might be burned at the stake for this comment though

Yeah, the first 3 skinny okes on the SS MUST be roadies, then the 4th skinny okie (Mr SIngleTrack) is a Hybrid, the the fat guy in 5th, yours truly, is pure mtb...

Oi oi oi. "Dirt roadie" is an expression devised by Sean Badenhorst to make himself feel superior to other mountain bikers and make Tread out to be some kind of ubercool cult magazine.
