New bike build

I am looking to make the leap and upgrade to a 29er dual suspension and trying to decide between an off the shelf bike or is it better to buy a frame and build something?

 

What are the pro's and con's for each option?

Depends on what you want to spend and how and what you ride .Find a frame geometry that you like + light good wheelset like crest with hope hubs+ full XT ,gears and brakes and you have all you will need from 30 to 40K

Building is more expensive by about 30% for a comparable spec.

 

However, you get exactly what you want and won't end up in the "upgrading" trap.

 

But if you are the kind of guy who can buy a scott, spez or giant off the floor and be happy with it, then buy - nothing wrong with that.

 

However, nothing beats the pleasure you get from building your own bike to your specifications/components.

 

*when I talk about building I refer to buying a boutique brand frame that you don't see commonly sold on shop floors....

Now If Mr Momsen can only make a 27.5 FS frame available, will gladly buy his first of the production line.

First need to find a frame, peob stay with 16 inch I'm using atm
