This is the second time that we are hosting the 93.9 Auto Aplina Springs Cycle Race. It was a big success last year and hope to achieve the same this year. Online entries are closing today but there will also be line entries available. For more information on the race go to http://www.springsgirls.co.za/ and click on news. The route is very challenging and there are a few hills towards Balfour.

This race is usually my 1st road race post winter but i'll be missing it this year as i'm doing a MTB race the same day.

Was a challenge last year, with seemingly endless drags made more difficult by the wind, well organized and good route.

Scotty, should have taken note of your comment. Eish, it is even worst than 94.7, Argus, Amashova,...... Started in the B group and it went well untill we hit the first drag about 3km into the race which ended 60km further in Devon. I'm not a great climber, so ended up doing 90km solo battling with the drags and wind. This is not a race for social riders unless you enter as a team riding together. Thumbs up to the organisers. The route was clearly marked and the marshalls very friendly. Will I do it again. Maybe the shorter route next year or get a few friends together to do the race together.

DJVR don't fool yourself thinking the shorter route is easier. The shorter route is even worse because you get all those hills again in reverse order. I did the short route last year and we also had a lot of wind. It almost killed me.

Ha  The roads in that area are wide open so the wind catches you, i sometimes ride to Devon and back with a mate who lives in Nigel. Have not done the short route but my mate has and he also suffered, will be back next year.

Thanks to the organizers for arranging a great race. The Road Rangers did route patrols to ensure everyone is safe. We had one incident with a farmer and his vehicle that tried to run one of the bike marshals off the road, other than that, all went well.

Well done to those that finished, it is not an easy route.
