Not on the couch anymore. Have build the bike as much as I can. LBS will have to trim brake hoses and bleed brakes, final settings and fit. I cannot wait for the build to be completew00t.gif thumbup1.gif clap.gif

It took longer than expected, but at last the bike is complete and I went for my 1st ride this morning. Some getting used to, but I enjoyed it. Started off on the tar for 15 odd km's just to get used to the different feel and to make sure everything was working properly, then went off road on forrest plantation service roads. thumbup1.gif clap.gifBike weighs 11kg. I opted for ZTR Flow rims with Hope hubs as I needed something strong and reliable

Very very nice build! Congratulations! Just read the whole thread and looking at the end product you really did make smart choices.

Now, next step is to fall once or twice :)

Hey, I did not get the bike to falleek.gif Must say though, the feeling if soft sand grabbing the front wheel is not too pleasant. I am running my tires at 2.5 rear and 2 front bar. Is that about right for my weight, which is hovering at around 99kg at the momentunsure.png

Pressure sounds about right

I clock in at 90kg's and then run 2 bar on the front, but usually let a little more air out when on the trail .... more often than not relying on the scientific squeeze test on the tyres.

Those gunsmoke hubs sure are pretty. Much nicer than the "safe" black option..

Hi robinh. I am in Paulpietersburg. Our town is situated at the foot of a mountain with a service road going to the top. We also have a railway line circling our town and those service roads are great for easier rides and nice for int. training as well. Some district roads around as well and then all those plantation roads. Couple of years back the guys laid-out some nice trails with bridges across streams etc and some really tough technical sections. They even had some races, but I don't know the condition of the trails as there is not much cycling going on aroung here at the moment thumbdown.gif

thats only because you havent invited us whistling.gif

You have so good lightweight tyres... Maxxis Ikon with side protection ?

Tyre pressure is one of those grey areas where you have to experiment. In my opinion your tyre pressure should be fine. I would take the 2.5 and 2 as close to the upper limit however but all depends on terrain. If you can down on the rear to 2-2.2 without hurting the rim then do so.
