After phoning shop after shop I realised theres not alot of 26ers out there anymore and my heart just tells me to stick to a 26er instead of going to 29.

I can get a Merida lite xt for 13.5k I think its a good price - what do you guys think?

Another reason to spend your money online overseas.

 

No it is not, if you bring a whole bike in you will get fleeced by the customs boys and girls.

Buy the bike that best suites your riding style.

 

but 29ers are more fashionable and socially accepted bikes, and avoid everyone asking when you will be upgrading....

The only people worse than the above you have just described are the ones who now "have to" run out and buy a retro bike just to do a Critical Mass or Moonlight Mass ride.
