I did Berg & Bush last year. I found my fitness was OK but where I was lacking was upper body, arm strength and mental concentration. I was not used to cycling that type of terrain for that long. There was plenty of narrow single track which required allot of concentration. I thought on the down hills one would be able to catch a breather, but was rather technical and required lots of concentration and the legs got very tired from standing up on the pedals, this is where the upper body strength comes in. Prior to B&B I would do two 40 to 50km rides over the weekend and spin twice a week. You must enjoy the event, it will be one that you will remember for a very long time. Fantastic cycling.

my girlfriend is doing her first 3 day stage race (W2W - we are riding together), I think she realised over the last month its not always the quantity but the quality. we are mixing it up and riding a lot of different stuff to like breedts, sbr, vg, spruit, NF, cradle etc.

Your riding should contain, hills, technical stuff, LSD and intervals don't under estimate the importance upper body and finger strength when doing your first 3 day stage race.

6-8 hours will enough, you can get away with less if do more intensity training!
