So I have been playing

Opened up the volume dial on the piggy back all the way. This made the suspension very deep and really feel like you have lots of travel out back, unfortunately the bike lost a good bit of "pep". Increasing the shock pressure did not really give the desired results. It became a mission to do a proper bunny hop (front wheel up and then push off the rear wheel) as the suspension just was not supportive enough. Lots of fiddling with the propedal setting and the rebound, but still not feeling right.

After riding the Silverback Slider recently, where I found the supple yet supportive suspension to be awesome I thought I would do the following:

  • Let all the air pressure out of the can
  • dial in the volume dial all the way
  • Run with more sag than previously (30+ a little % vs the 25% previously)
  • Nice and firm Propedal pressure

I have only ridden the bike on the road today, but she has a playfulness to her that is very very welcome. The "pep" is back and bunny hopping is far more intuitive. Down a long flight of stairs the suspension was nice and supple with good control on the landing, doing little "slalom" turns through bollards the bike was giving good feedback and would allow me to push into the travel and feel what the back is doing and how it was tracking vs a suspension that just wallowed.

Even with the rear can fully open the suspension does not bob excessively when pedaling hard and yet again has a feeling that she wants to play by finding rocks/roots/lips on the trail to pop off.

Looking forward to a ride this week on the mountain to see how she fares.
