I hit a warthog on my MTB on a downhill jeep track some time ago, end up in hospital with concussion. All the Dr an nurses had a good giggle, and all want to know how the pig is.

Sorry, no Go Pro footage.....

So did you tell them? And was the warthog OK?

When ever you are leaving the singletrack to gap it over a road or intersection,

DON'T lean over the bars to check for oncoming traffic..........& brake!!!!!!!

I was trying some small drop-offs on my hardtail - roughly 1 meter. As i went off the first one my brother shouted that I was taking the incorrect line (as a joke). I instinctively tried to pull out, hitting the brakes. Unfortunately still hit the second drop-off and landed on my front wheel. Lost the skin off my face, nose and arm.

Long time ago when i was still a roadie, we did the argus route 1 week before the event. Up chappies, i lost the slip on the 3 top guys (im a sprinter ok, not a climber) and tried to catch them again on the way down. Cant remember which turn but its built like a hairpin, i was doing approx 38-42km/h and realised there was no way in hell that i was going to make the turn... In sheer panic, i pulled the back brake way to hard which of course brings the bike upright.....

I bliksem'ed into the sidewalk and landed in a thorn bush on the edge of the drop off (the bush actually saved me from a nasty fall off the mountain). The doctor still had to surgically remove a thorn from my elbow 3 months later. My front wheel was a writeoff... Still did my sub 3 the next week though  (gause patches and all)

Lesson: Feather those brakes
