Joeboy69 Posted November 5, 2012 Share Can any one tell me if we can ride the trial from last weekend the 40 or 70 km on the weekend. Is there a entrance ,parking. We really like Van Gaalens, but a new place would be nice. We did not ride race but like the areaWould it be safe? Thank you. I doubt that you can repeat it as some sections were on private property and will likely be off limits.
HAKAHANA TRAILS Posted November 5, 2012 Share I doubt that you can repeat it as some sections were on private property and will likely be off limits.Unfortunately not the 70 route as its private reserve, but alot of the 40 will be available soon, by appointment. We are also trying to finish off a 10 XC course which will be a lot of fun will keep you posted
HAKAHANA TRAILS Posted November 5, 2012 Share I am still mentally scarred, so to answer your question - recovery time is not good.http://1.1.1.4/bmi/cdn.bikehub.co.za/forum//public/style_emoticons/default/wink.png Seriously though, go for it. Being able to do the marathon means you are one step closer to stage racing, which is the most fun you can have on a bike. achieving times like that on the Hakahana 40 it seems you are ready to make the transition. Choose your first marathon carefully and go out gentler

divernick Posted November 6, 2012 Share I'm no expert, but I would hazard a guess that if you can mange that, you're pretty much OK for anything. Freakin' well done! Haha, thanks G!

My saddle was under my stomach just to get the weight as far back as possible I forgot to lean waaaay back so did a little balancing act on the front wheel before taking a little fall. divernick Posted November 6, 2012 Share Someone on that descent crashed 2 riders in front of me and as I was passing him, he was standing up. I asked if he was ok and he was laughing like a kid. All he said was "I'm just having a bit of fun!" Dubber88
MaxUmis Posted November 6, 2012 Share Where and how do I train for that first down hill on the 40km.That was scary Not to start "that" debate... again...But them clown bikes definitively have an advantage over the otherwise perfect 26ers going down descents like that one. Quite simply because their big clown wheels get more big clown rubber onto the ground and as such, they don't loose traction as early as the otherwise perfect 26ers. So in short; if you couldn't ride it even on a clown bike, then go play at fountains to build that skill set. If you did it on a 26er and had to bail out, don't worry, you'll be able to do it on a clown bike. If you did it all the way on the 26er, well done son. You're living proof that 26ers are better than clown bikes Edited November 6, 2012 by MaxUmis Dubber88 and madvics

"that" . . debate, but I hear there is only two types of riders sticking to 26ers - those who haven't ride a "clown bike" yet and those who can't afford a "clown bike" Dubber88
