Hi there.

I don't know anything about bikes. I did a triathlon yesterday with a mountain bike and I'm hooked.

I would like to buy a road bike that I can use for triathlon's but also for road races in the future. I went to a few cycle shops in Pretoria, but everyone is trying to sell me something else. It's really confusing.

My budget is R10k. I want the best possible bike. Is there any suggestions?

I saw an add for a Axis™ AR 10 C for R7000 and also the AR 20 C for R12 000 - it is full carbon bikes. Is it a good bike?

I also liked the Silverback Strela and the Trek 3.1 Madone. Someone also suggested the Giant TCR 2.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Look for something with a relaxed head tube angle, and quite an upright seatube, so that you can clip aerobars on and hopefully keep the handling ok. Go with the smallest frame size that fits you for tri.

Components are more important than brands. You should at least aim for 105 or 105 ultegra mix. That being said, I did 70.3 on a 10year old Alu bike with Sora.

If you cant get the Axis AR 10 C for R7000 you should take it, full carbon ultegra components. Probably a typo though

She was referring to CATs sale on the Hub. AR10 with 105 parts, new.
