Another bike VS bike topic - Axis A 40 29ER 2013 vs Scott Aspect 920 2013

Good day

This is my first time posting so bear with me. I've been in the market for a new bike on a budget. Kinda have my heart set on a 29er. These 2 bikes I can get for the same price. They look very similar (to my untrained eye) so Im looking at the specs to try figure out which one sneaks ahead.

I would appreciate it greatly if someone with more knowledge than myself could take a look at these 2, and tell me which one would be a better choice?

Thanks in advance :)

The Scott is equipped with a slightly better groupset than the Axis, i.e Shimano Deore on the Scott vs Shimano Aliveo on the Axis. The Axis looks quite cool though.

Well my budget is around R7K. The thing is my buddy works as a rep and can get me either of those bikes for R5.5K each. quite the bargin if you ask me. Thats why i've kinda narrowed it down to these two. .

I did notice this while googling around abit. Not much info on either bike though, so im forced to google each individual component on its own lol. Ohwell. I was leaning towards the Scott, but so far the majority of people ive spoken to say the Axis.

Forget the group set at this level of bike. They all work just fine. Most important factors are the frame geometry, wheels and shock. Judge the bikes on this criteria. So do your research on those bits.
