  1. Rough start, but welcome! I avoid roads on all together. Mountains and dirt only, for me, preferably where no cars can go. Still worried about the ebikes though😅
  2. I have done a 1x conversion on that crank, think I used a wolf chainring with Simano Zee derailleur (The whole conversion cost me around R2000) And keeping it 1x10 also reduces cost, as you can re-use the shifter. I wont spend too much extra, as there may be better value for money upgrades on the bike
  3. Thanks, think Im going to try them (PWC) out, was hoping red barn changes its opening again to 0600.
  4. Hi everyone, is there any nice trails around midrand, which opens at 0600? want to do some riding before work, but seems the near ones open at 0700.
  5. Keep in mind, the fire not all bad, every few years a fire is required to support the growth of Fynbos. Dont think Jonkers had a fire in more than 10 years, so not all bad. https://www.kbrc.org.za/news/fynbos-and-fire/#:~:text=Fire%20acts%20as%20mineralizing%20agent,certain%20period%20after%20the%20fire.
  6. Why are the mountain bikers concerned? You are mostly not using public roads (Like if I ride my Scrambler, no license or anything) I believe in any case bikes should be on the dirt, just a hassle to actual motorized vehicles on the road
  7. Maybe a licence system can have a learners... where cyclist learn they should also stop at a red light, like the other road users.
  8. Way back there used to be bicycle licenses, My dad's old bike still has a few of them on. Im all for licencing, and then at least there is a foot to stand on for cycle lanes
  9. Also got a bite from Luts Denys
  10. Selling my South African vintage bike https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/292869-alpina-south-african-made/
  11. Not yet, but hoping once all these things blow over it starts picking up and maybe a little boost once they get kraken running again, haha. But BTC is like america, it sneezes and the rest of the world gets flu, haha
  12. Hopefully today is the day we see the recovery.... this massive drop this week gave good opportunity to reshuffle my portfolio. Whats your top 3 coins you are looking at today? XLM, ADA and TRX is where im at, with XRP being my stable investment!
  13. Havent been online in a while, but feel like riding this weekend. Anyone riding Saturday or Sunday? Dont really want to ride alone, a helmet is not protection enough, haha
  14. Here is my info, when I changed over last year: Think CRC have even better specials now. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/142167-1x10-switch-from-scratch/
  15. Stellenbosch is mountainbiking heaven, but one needs to work, haha... Lived in the western cape for 29years
  16. just moved to Middelburg(in the North [EDIT: Mpumalanga]) this week, from a Stellenbosch. Brought my bike with. I'm looking for some safe spots I can start to ride. I mostly ride light DH and aggressive single tracks, but middelburg seems kind of flat, haha. Any ideas where I can go and what bike shops are decent?
  17. 18. I live round Eden/G-spot. Most people (me included) walk their dogs without leashes, as soon as we enter the Forrest gate at Eden. But Gspot bit to busy to have a dog though and its single track, so think walker should also be kept off, but thats just me. I've also had some some close calls coming down Gspot at speed with dogs, but they all were friendly, haha.
  19. I used to use the post (15+ packages, never had problems). But I only select DHL now, Sometimes it arrives the next day .
  20. Dont think they will grip properly? Does not make sense, do you perhaps have a pic of the shoes? As normal clipless on flats just sounds a bit dangerous/odd? I ride flats, with MTB shoes for flats (five10's), but i'll never put my clipless on to ride on flats, they'll be worse than even flip-flops
  21. I also buy a few things second hand, but CRC has such good deals now on complete 1x10 setups, under R2000 for whole drive train, except cranks. So would definitely buy that new from them. (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/za/en/groupsets?f=2258&sort=pricelow) Shocks might be a bit dicey, as you don't always know the true condition. I bought 2 shocks secondhand, and both had leakage problems withing a week.
  22. Order this from CRC, R23k frame, build some sweet parts on. Buying a bike stock is lame. http://junksofa.com/sites/default/files/Snabb_Trail_lemon_lime.jpg http://brimages.bikeboardmedia.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/SnabbT_1-600x400.jpg http://nsbikes.com/images/slider/s1-1099-s.jpg
  23. These are the ones I like, have them on all my bikes (still need to get an Intense again though)
