So I've spent a few hours moving soil from one area to another just off Rustenburg Rd past where they have been doing that new building. Someone had dumped a few loads in the park so I thought why not...

3 new table tops built so far. Wanted to start a line that is cool for beginners/novices to roll over and progress to small jumps as well as some fun for intermediate jumpers. DHL and Hurlingham are a bit hectic for newbies and normal XC bikes.

Anyway they are there and fairly well packed down. Maybe a light rain will help. Feel free to give them a pat down if you have a go and find they are a bit loose.

Ive angled the line away from the normal trail and as there is a fair amount of soil left in the one pile I'd like to finish it off with a ramp to jump the drainage ditch.

I plan to try to finish it off and do a bit of sculpting on Sunday afternoon from about 2:30 so if there is anyone with some experience that could help finish them off and anyone who can bring a spade and wheelbarrow to help with the ditch jump that would be cool.

If it's hot beer may be required to maintain morale but if its pissing with rain I won't be there !!

Mr Christmas Tree and myself hit the Scout hall gap line (in Bryanston) last saturday. It had been about a year since we last rode there. The line still runs alright. But I know Myself, Peach, Super_mill and MissionS are keen to get it back to it's former glory.

...wouldn't count on Mr Christmas Tree helping though. his hands are allercic to spades... or any manual labour for that matter

They look a bit short. But good work.

Will be interesting to see if you can carry speed going towards Emmerentia, but coming back, those are way too short. But we'll have to see when we ride em.

Thanks for the efforts.

The 1st thing I'm going to ride 'íf' I get back on the bike is Spruit. Been 4mounths in JHB and have not done it. Dont most of the other, even routes in NW, pathetic to thing as the spruit is only 1.3km from my house!

Keen to see all these jumps!

hahaha! it takes quite a bit to get Daft Vader interested in commenting on a topic

nice work! they're looking nice and neat!

Now I just need to get out on the spruit and have a look for myself! Try them out, and maybe try run in a line connecting them.

Thanks again!

There is a reasonable pile of soil left so they can be added to if they are not big enough. They are about 3 strides long. Let me know if you ride them and give some feedback. Can do a bit more on Friday morning

Awesome! that looks like good dirt! Did you ship it in, or find it local to the jumps?

As for modifications, if they do need to be bigger as Daft vader suggests, but you still want to keep them reasonable so that more riders can have fun and learn on them, then one can shave the knuckle on the landing side a bit lengthen the jump and make it more like a DH style table top.

This will allow those jumping far to not overshoot, whilst those still learning can comfortably case on the top without the risk of the knuckle sending them over the bars.

Something kinda like this (but not a step-up and not quite as big)

Many of the jumps we saw in France were built like that. It made one feel more confident to hit them, even with the risk of casing.

Soil had been dumped in the park by someone else on 2 different occations as the 2 piles are quite different. After a few weeks of riding past it I thought Id put it to better use.

Im no expert jumper so just made them the shape I felt would work. Get a bit of air and survive the landing. Im sure over time theyll be worn/eroded into better shape if thats what works better
