I agree with the OP in the sense that the source needs to be identified and if local pharmicisits and or doctors are involved harsh action needs to be taken. Yes it may be possible to get online etc, but reading some of the other threads around here about how easiliy doctors and pharmicisits are dishig this stuff out, it is probably just as plausible that DG and the boys are not having to try that hard and have some local help

So your argument is because there are always ways to circumvent laws we shouldn't bother to try enforce them?

EPO is a legal prescription drug with valid medical reasons for use. Not all sales are as PEDs.

The fact that it is banned by WADA does not mean it may not be used by anybody. It is out f bounds for sportspeople because there are people who abuse it for performance enhancing

Correct but this thread is not about cheating sportspeople. There are laws against doctos prescribing scheduled drugs for inappropriate uses. There are also laws defining how controlled and scheduled drugs may be brought into the country. And there are certainly laws preventing pharmicists from providing controlled scheduled drugs without a valid prescription.

If any of the above are occurring (and it seems ALL are) then I would like some action taken against those responsible. not just the end user.

Robox, Thank you, your informed opinion is enlightening! Many miss the point.

Valid reasons for use of EPO are quite limited and I don't believe there are any legitimate uses in a healthy person (though I stand to be corrected). Your argument applies better to the likes of test. and HGH.

Simply get the guilty ones to spill the beans on who their suppliers were! Confessing seems to be the new in-thing in pro-cycling anyway, especially if they are threatened with a bit of jailtime or financial ruin. Then take those suppliers to task, either through the courts or through their own professional bodies, if they turn out to be doctors or pharmacists.

(I doubt that the local supplier will turn out to have a name like Ferarri, much more likely to be Dr Cortina Big-Six.)

I think if DG is totally transparent about how, who, where and why, the authorities may be more forgiving with punishment. The problem is that if this means that he may well be implicating team mates or others in the mix as well and will probably mean an end to some more careers. He clearly has been on the juice for some time, otherwise he would not have been so casual about competing after the tests were done in August. If this was an isolated incident and he got tested on 29 August he would surely have withdrawn from competition with some mystic illness until the results came out.

In the mean time, three witches were found peddling on their bikes. The hubbers mob decided not to stick framepumps in the spokes of their front wheels, but to rather kill them with micro-accusations, slander and baseless rumour...
