Thanks!

That was Jo's last race as a pro. She will now focus on her Business Analyst / Project Manager career and race for fun.

Many don't know how hard it is to follow a training program for 6 days a week for the last 3-4 years, most of them combined with a full time job! The crashes and resulting scars and pains made it tough for her the last few months.

Didn't realise she was not racing.

Will be sad not to see her.

All the best.

Jip, a pity that the SA cycling websites did not alert us to the fact prior to the race.....did they know? All of the best to her in her career!

jeesh all the women are retiring....Jo, Karien, Ischen....

Is Robyn still going on as I saw something a while ago saying she's still to decide whether she will ride pro next year

I'm not sure if Robyn has made up her mind yet.

Luckily there are some good youngsters coming up... the Daltons, Leandri, Carlee etc. But with CSA pulling their development sponsorship and MTN pulling out of women's cycling the future isn't looking good!

She will still do some races, after breaking her ribs at Worlds she could barely train and still got 3rd in Satelite Classic and joint 5th in 94.7 (in support of her team mates who won both races). So she could still do really well on the local scene and have fun. She must just leave the bike for a while until the bug bites again and her body has recovered fully.

Hmm, I just watched some of the highlights now, I think Sharon was great, it was absolutely thrilling to see her ride the last 40 odd kms on her own and take the race win. I found myself willing her on and in the end I have to say it was thoroughly deserved.

They started to interview her but my PVR timed out so I missed most of it, but from what I heard she appears to have quite a pedigree behind, second in the woman's TDF I believe, yet I think its the first time I hear of her.

These days I seem to enjoy watching the woman's races more than the men, case in point the woman's Olympic race which was completely enthralling as well.

Good luck to her in her new direction! She served the sport and her country well!

I watched her win the Cape Cobra this January and later discovered she had won the Epic in '04.

Guess selection controversy is not unique to SA with her not picked for Olympics. Froome and her have something in common , both born in Kenya. Quite a CV with MTB and triathlon besides cycling

Dumb question perhaps but being British, how is it she was able to race in the Australian road race championship. Can someone from another country take part in our SA champs.
