I have the Giant seat and personally believe its better than the Weeride Kangaroo as it can recline. This is a very important when hitting the road and little one wants to hit club duvet. My daughter has been in the "saddle" since she was 8mths and the Giant seat has always been a winner. She is now 2yrs.

My 5year old son still enjoys going for a ride.

I will say the advantage the Weeride has is that its mounted in front of the rider and this could put a nervous mom at ease but if the child gets a bit older, then it would be rather cumbersome. I just feel because of this the Weeride has a limited life span.

The weeride has cushioned support for the child's head, so no issue when they fall asleep, at least you can see when they fall asleep - no prob carrying a child up to 4 yrs.

OK

I found that when I go for a ride and my daughter wants to sleep, she sleeps much better when I recline the seat. She also wears a toddler helmet which tends to be bulky and thats why reclining is important.

I have the giant for my lighty.

He just turned three.

But the one he prefers the most is this one.

https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/44934-child-carrier/

Its cheaper and made by a hubber.

It involves him in the steering/braking process which teaches him.

He has a better view of things (he doesnt spend an hour staring at my backside)

And i am there to protect him with my body.

It keeps the centre of gravity on the bike MUCH better than the giant seat as it doesnt make the bike back heavy.

I saw someone in CBD with it on his bike and what is nice about it is it takes up no space. With the seat you need to keep on taking it on and off. This is a problem when you only have one bike.

Thanks guys for all your input and advice. I decided to go with the rear installed carrier, as this was actually my wife's choice as she would be riding with baba most of the time. I picked it up at Valencia in Nelspruit for dirt cheap as I got proper discount.

I will shoot a pic as soon as its on the bike, I am now enjoying my last holiday vegging away being unfit...

Enjoy. The only regret I ever had about mine was I bought it too late for my son. The few times he got to spend in it where awesome for him. His little sister loves it so much that she gets so excited when she sees me gear up. She rushes off to fetch her helmet.

The only thing I would recommend if you don't already have is an extra water bottle cage (your now carrying water for two) and a proper child size helmet.

Enjoy :)

So the farking seat does not fit, Valencia failed to tell me its for a 26" bike. Back to square one. Pretty sure I am going to settle for the Giand half wheeler and get it over with. Spent like R20k on bikes and accessories and still have not ridden it properly.

+1. My little one will also go and fetch her helmet. Got her a nice kiddies size bell helmet. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to find a good quality kiddies helmet?

For proper singletrack riding with your kid: www.pro-biketrailer.net

Expensive, but possibly the only option if you don't want to sacrifice on your own riding.

Thanks UH, I sent them a quote request, will have a look at the price. But at the moment the Giant halfwheeler seems like a very good option, pending the biketrailer price.

Posted this in another thread as well.

But this is what we settled on. The Giant halfwheeler. Baba cannot pedal as yet, he is still to short to reach the pedals, but he clamps on for dear life and like the rides too much. He is quite the parasite at the moment, making my early days of training difficult. But as soon as he can reach, he will pedal like mad.

For the price it is not a bad product at all, easy to assemble, easy to install and very easy to use.

Thank you for all the advice and guidance.
