Meerendal on week days...

Hey guys,

 

Was just wondering if places like Meerendal are open for cycling on week days? Is the cost the same as on week ends (R30)? Is it open at any time of the day?... I saw another thread about them only allowing nights rides on a certain day, maybe it was an old thread

 

and lastly, do any of you go ride there during the week? do you reckon its safe to go alone?

yes it is open in the week

I think there is a night ride alowed on thursdays only

you will be more than safe (well from crime but there are some snakes )

Do you know what the "cutoff" time is, before it officially becomes a night ride?

Yep Yep I go in the week quite often, feel pretty safe. Other than the snakes

 

Cutoff time is when it gets dark I assume? I often ride till like 19:30, as I live 15min away.

night rides are on Thursdays at Meerendal, but only with Tygerberg Club and you have to be a member. Night rides from Tygerberg clubhouse on Ntida on Wednesdays, but also only for Tygerberg members.

You can ride until sunset if you are not a member - just put your money in the honesty box.

I've ridden all the trails during the week on my own and I reckon you are safe. Only one to be careful of when alone is Majik Forest.

Correct - visitors are most welcome. The Wednesday nightrides from Nitida didn't take off nearly as well as the Meerendal night rides but we can restart them if there's sufficient interest.

Other than Thursday at Meerendal, trail ride times are between sunrise and sunset so if you need a light, stick to Majik or the dirt road network.
